Spirit of Success Character, Courage, Compassion, Conviction, and Charity define the American Spirit O rlando, the City Beautiful, welcomed aspiring queens representing states across the country in search of the Miss American Spirit na- tional crowns and titles. This was an auspicious competition, as the nation- al event was a relaunch of the Ameri- can Spirit Pageant under the vision of veteran queen Dedra Curtis, who was quoted in 2010: “I take my responsi- bility as the inaugural Mrs. American Spirit very seriously. I want to set the tone for everyone that follows.” Through her vision, Dedra strives to incorporate the mission of American Spirit through their platform of the 5 Cs: character, courage, compassion, conviction, and charity. With the en- thusiasm any new venture provides, the new American Spirit Pageant ex- perience was launched, and the nine national crowns of Miss Preteen (10- 12 years), Jr. Teen (13-15), Teen (16- 18), Miss (19-25), Ms., Mrs., Classic (50+), Talent, and Emeritus became the quest of the weekend.
