T he exciting sixth annual State & Local Pageant Vol-
unteers Reception was again held during the Miss
America Week in Las Vegas in the spectacular Eiffel
Tower Restaurant where past alumni, long-time vol-
unteers, current volunteers and guests joined togeth-
er to greet, meet, visit, laugh, cry and share the many memories
of helping to organize, create and conduct the Miss America
State and Local pageants across the nation. The event recog-
nizes outstanding volunteers for their many years of service in
support of the Miss America Organization, many celebrating
30 plus years.
Special, recognition this year went to Miss California Exec-
utive Director Bob Arnhym for his ﬁfty-four years of service to
the organization while Dr. Briggs Hopson of Mississippi was
recognized for his thirty-seven years of service. In a fashionable
acknowledgement, designer Stephen Yearick was recognized
for dressing many state and national titleholders.
This Alumni Reception is open to State, Local, National
volunteers and staff members to share memories, friendships
and the history of the Miss America ‘adventure’ with those who
have made the program possible over the many years. Many
stayed for dinner to share more time together plus experience
the fabulous dinners in the Eiffel Tower Restaurant. The com-
mittee has announced they will continue to organize this spe-
cial event which continues to grow in attendance each year. □
Men of the Hour - Three honorees were celebrated
at the Alumni Party, including Dr. Briggs Hopson (MS)
for 37 years of service, Designer Stephen Yearick and
Bob Arnhym for his 54 years of service.

True Pioneers - Norm and Rosanne Nielsen were
among the past Utah directors who established plat-
form issues for the Miss America Program.
