your look ● makeup By Jules Beecher and PHOTO BY TED WEST Yulia Konstantinova-Riebman Angels Have Wings Be bold, be yourself and be sure to stretch your wings this winter season W inged eyes are never going out of fashion, as this timeless trend permanently secured its spot in the beauty industry with one unex- pected twist for the winter season—dramatic bold color. Before, we were used to that cat- eye look, done in more subtle, classic colors like black or brown. Today, it is all about making that edgy fashion state- ment and emphasizing your beautiful eyes. Depending on the color of your eyes, it can vary from glittery, champagne gold and cold pinks that will make any blue eyes pop, metallic purples for green and hazel eyes, to icy-blues for brown eyes. We have two textures to choose from: chro- matic solids for a night at the museum, or a glittery metal- lic to shine at any holiday party. Remember, with so much drama going on with your eyes, you have to keep the rest of the face completely “nude,” meaning natural. Well-maintained skin is a must with a matching, flawless foundation, a subtle blush effect to freshen up the complexion, and neutral lips to finish off the look. It’s the perfect time to use your favorite winter lip balm for a bare lip technique with no shame at all. Overall, the rule stays the same—whether dark smoky eyes, graphic bold liner, or bright red lips—pick one and go for it, but never in combination with each other. Our Beau- ty Director, Yulia Konstantinova-Riebman, and myself are going to demonstrate how you can take that charming trend to your own vanity with these easy steps. 14 PAGEANTRY Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2014 Morgan Moseley is a featured model in the Pageantry & PromTime Fashion Showcase and can be seen in the pages of the Spring 2015 editions. BEFORE TLC FOR YOUR SKIN Before we get to actual technique, let us remind you that taking good care of your skin, proper moisturizing and fol- lowing a clean diet are essential parts of your makeup rou- tine, regardless of your age, and they should not be overlooked. Our beautiful model, Morgan, takes that seri- ously and for that she has perfect, flawless skin that will ul- timately make our job easy. LESS IS MORE We started with blotting the skin prior to foundation to make sure that all residues from other products were gone. We are using a professional airbrush to apply a foundation, but you can also use cream or liquid foundations that are appropriate for your skin type.
