Carol Burnett once said that nobody goes through life without a scar. She was right. Scars are the tattoos of life experience and create a road map of our journey. However, while we should never be ashamed of our scars, sometimes we don’t want them to take center stage. It is perfectly acceptable to proudly reveal your scars to the world, and it is just as ac­ceptable to choose not to every once in a while. If you should decide to cover your scars, this tutorial is for you.

Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix Spray

Step 1: Fresh Face & Moisturize

Begin with a clean, fresh face. You want to be sure that you use a makeup wipe 15 – 30 minutes before you begin so that you can be sure that your skin is very refreshed. Even if you have super oily skin, do not forget to hydrate your skin. Use circular motions to massage your skin as you apply your moisturizer.

Step 2: Prime Time!

It is imperative to remember that covering scars requires a little more work, as well as product. Begin by using your foundation brush to apply your primer. I prefer the Real Techniques Foundation Brush from their Travel Essentials Kit because it is soft, but you can also lightly squeeze it for a firmer effect once you begin stippling. Use about half a dime size of Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer and Benefit’s The POREfessional Pore Primer. This combination will create a super smooth canvas before you begin.

Step 3: Conceal & Blend

Concealing your blemishes can be a scary process, but you simply have to be sure that you choose an excellent concealer. I am obsessed with Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer! You want to use a very similar tone to your actual color the day of show or the photo shoot.
