Royal International Miss and its contingent of national and international delegates, families and supporters joined together at the international finals in Orlando, Florida to celebrate eleven years of pageantry, glamour, international friendship, and purple passion which have become a trademark of the Royal International Miss Scholarship Pageant.
Excited delates from the United States, Botswana, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, the UK, and South Africa were determined to capture one of the fourteen crowns of Royal International Role Model and Royal International Miss. Once again, Royal International Miss was showcasing the event as a true international celebration.
The initial day of Royal International Miss, as with many other events, saw the arriving delegates complete registration and situate themselves for the upcoming week of competitions and festivities. The stage had been set and the divisional crowns and titles of Princess, Sweetheart, Pre-Teen, Jr. Teen, Teen, Miss, and Ms. of both Royal International Role Model and Royal International Miss were clearly in the spotlight. The international delegates would compete in the required competitions of Interview/Introduction, Fashion Wear in a personal ensemble choice, and Evening Gown. The Optional Competitions offered a plethora of choices for additional awards and recognition. Delegates could select events such as Royal Top Model, replete with a professional photo shoot followed by a modeling runway presentation. Others included the Purple Passion Runway Show, Talent, Spokesmodel, Casual Wear, Photogenic, State or International Wear, Fitness (no swimwear), Community Awareness Apparel (jeans designed to promote a personal or organizational platform), Portfolio, and more.
Preparation is key in any international stage competition. Immediately following registration, the national and international delegates were whisked into their first rehearsal of the week. Throughout the day, divided into the respective age divisions, the routines for the stage presentations were presented in preparation of the glamorous international finals. Customarily, the initial day ended with a party, the Royal International Miss Welcome Rally and Queen’s Reception Luau Party. It was a welcome respite to an eventful day and the contestants and families enjoyed the opportunity to reacquaint themselves, learn about new cultures, and bond with new national and international friends.
Royal International Miss week commenced bright and early the next morning with divisional rehearsals scheduled throughout the day, along with several Optional Competitions (Top Model, Casual Wear, Purple Passion, Spokesmodel), and Personal Introductions and Interviews (Role Model). The journey to the crown was becoming a reality. It was a whirlwind opening day which would appropriately close with the colorful Glow Back to the 80’s Dinner and Party with a featured Michael Jackson impersonator. The 80’s were alive and well with neon, black-lights, and the over-the-top fashions which defined the decade.
