AMP IT UP!

The American Miss Pageant brings a sense of sisterhood and energy to the national finals

Portland, Maine welcomed its national delegates for a week of pageantry, sisterhood, and AMP’d up energy. Vying for the crowns, representatives competed in the nine age divisions of Mini (ages 2-4), Young Miss (ages 5-8), Preteen (ages 9-12), Jr. Teen (ages 13-15), Teen (ages 16-19), Miss (ages 20-25), MS. (ages 26 and above as a parent or divorced), Mrs. (ages 18+), and Elegant Miss (ages 50+).
AMP’s competition encompasses On-Stage Introduction (10%), Interview (30%), Fashion Runway (30%), and Evening Gown segments (30%). For the Mini age division, the competition focuses on two areas: Fashion Runway and Evening Gown. Apart from crowning the American Miss National Mini, AMP also designates the 1st runner-up as American Miss Royalty, and every other Mini delegate receives the title of American Miss Girl, ensuring each participant takes home a crown and banner. “We chose to bestow crowns upon every delegate in both the Mini and Young Miss age categories, recognizing the significance of allowing them to experience the feeling of wearing a crown and representing something meaningful to them,” states Brenda Pollock, president of American Miss.
In addition to the required elements of competition, AMP delegates can also compete for a plethora of awards through the Optional Competitions of Talent, Photogenic, Model, Spokesmodel, Casual Wear, and the About Me Scrapbook.
Although the week was filled with high energy competitions, every queen needs a respite from the rigors of competition. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect during the 2024 AMP National Pageant weekend as the stars aligned with the Maine Mariners Hockey Team in town for a home game. After a day filled with filming and rehearsals, the delegates embarked on a VIP Coachline bus journey to the game where they enjoyed an exclusive on-ice lounge suite. The game began with a moving rendition of “America the Beautiful,” sung by American Miss National Elegant 2024 Teal Griswold while American Miss National 2024 Valerianne Hinkley had the honor of being center-ice for the ceremonial puck-drop, adding another special touch to the event.
American Miss is proud to extend its support to Shriner’s Children Hospital in Boston through a thoughtful initiative. Upon registration, all delegates are encouraged to start collecting aluminum can tabs as a means of contributing to this important cause, which directly benefits patients at Shriners. The funds generated from the collected can tabs are specifically designated to assist families with travel expenses. This year, a total of $1,100.00 was donated to the Shriner’s Hospital.
The moment of truth had arrived for the delegates of the American Miss Pageant. As the families, supporters and attendees vocally AMP’d up the venue, the new titles of American Miss Pageant were announced: American Miss Pageant Mini Vivian Courtway, AMP Young Miss Eva Badgujar, AMP Preteen Molly McBride, AMP Jr. Teen Elmire Arsenault, AMP Teen Ashley Qi, AMP Miss Erica Ly, AMP Ms. Allison Gaul, AMP Mrs. LJ Dong, AMP Elegant Miss Eve Alexander, and Kayla Temblay as American Miss Ambassador.
