Tell us about your business.
Amelie is an international design house and distributor of bridal and social occasion fashions such as prom, pageant, brides, and special occasion. We began in supplying bridal designs to Europe and Japan and now produce evening wear fashions to those countries as well as in the U.S. fashion market. Our goal is to provide stylish designs, excellent quality, affordable pricing, and good service to retailers and their clientele.

Who are your designers?
Amelie Ltd. employs a team of top designers from Japan and China. Many of these young and fashion forward designers are recent graduates of their respective fashion schools who have graduated in the top of their classes. Using a team with varying ideas and design philosophies gives Amelie a fresh, exciting, and contemporary look. Also, the energy brought to the company by fresh designers helps keep our eye on ever changing tastes.

What divisions do you carry?
Originally a manufacturer of only bridal, we presently offer Prom, Pageant, Quinceanera, Social Occasion, Mother of the Wedding and Bridal (traditional, Modern, Informal, and Destination). Also, we have plans for future divisional expansion.

What size ranges do you offer?
As with most companies, we offer a wide range of sizes, many dependant on the cut of the gown and the division. Most gowns range between size 2 and 26. Additionally, we are able to special cut many of the designs to requested sizes not normally available.

What intrigued you to originally enter the fashion industry?
Like many design houses, Amelie was founded through a confluence of events. Amelie started as a bridal manufacturer for the European and Japanese markets in 1999. With the European success, the company, founded by Stacey Huang, entered the North American bridal market in 2004. By the next year, Amelie had expanded into the social occasion market with the Amelie prom and pageant division.

Where do you find your design inspiration?
In nature, everywhere. In working with a young team of designers, inspiration and design ideas are unique to each individual. As recent graduates of design school, there are no preconceived notions and everything is possible. Also, when working with a team, many ideas are born through interaction with each other.

Where do you see your business and industry trends heading?
As a young and exciting company, we see continued growth for the future. We are looking to expand the company through new divisions and markets. Amelie is not only the design center, but also owns the manufacturing factory. We are able to closely monitor quality control as well as ship directly to the retail store.

Why do you continue to love what you do?
Good fashion is an art, and like any great artist, we are always striving to better our last canvas (our dresses). It is a challenge to provide affordable quality apparel and still provide a fashionable, elegant look. As exciting as it is, we hope to continue to produce beautiful dresses for any occasion and meet the challenge.
