The Miss American Coed Pageant shows its Red, White and Blue Pageantry Spirit

 

The spirit of Miss American Coed was on full Red, White, and Blue display during the national finals in Orlando, Florida. After months without pageantry and a date change due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the positive and patriotic spirit of Miss American Coed’s national delegates and supporters were a welcome reprieve from the months-long national lockdown. Welcome to Miss American Coed, where masks were not optional and social distancing was the word of the week.

A Week of Spirit

Miss American Coed spirit week began with a full day of national delegate registration and a day to acclimate oneself to the layout of the host venue and competition ballrooms. As the day progressed, sister queens and state representatives who had not physically seen each other for months welcomed the opportunity to reacquaint themselves and talk about their experiences throughout this uncommon year.

The House of Mouse

This was the week to celebrate Miss American Coed in Orlando, and what better way to celebrate than spend a day with family and newfound friends at the happiest place on Earth, Disney World, or one of its featured parks? In addition to the Miss American Coed Pageants health protocols, anyone who has followed the news of the park’s reopening quickly realized that they would still need to adhere to any and all mask and sanitization measures while on the Disney property. While the Disney park day was optional, most took advantage of the opportunity and enjoyed the fun-filled and stress free day, while some enjoyed spending time at the host venue which was selected for its unbelievable array of on-property activities such as: lagoon style pools featuring beautiful waterfalls, grottos and waterslides, a private beach with quiet cabanas and hammocks, boat rentals to cruise the beautiful lake along the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course, and relaxing jogging and biking trails with tandem bike rentals.

The Quest Begins

Following the day at the Disney parks, Miss American Coed Spirit Week and the quest for the sixteen national crowns of Miss American Coed and the Miss American Coed Victory Queens commenced. The age divisions were divided into unique classes: Freshmen Class (Princess ages 3-6 and Sweetheart ages 7-9), Sophomore Class (Preteen ages 10-12 and Jr. Teen ages 13-15), Junior Class (Teen ages 16-18 and Coed ages 19-24), and the Senior Class consisting of the Ms. Division ages 25-34, Woman ages 35-44, and Classic Woman ages 45 and up.

Throughout the day, depending on your specific class, the contestants were busy with rehearsals such as Camera Ready, a themed rehearsal with delegates dressed in their most fashionable ensemble of choice in preparing for the filming of the opening show production videos as well as the sports themed rehearsal. This was where contestants represented their favorite hometown sports team with the reigning Miss American Coed queens appearing in custom American Coed football jerseys as a special surprise for the occasion. Once rehearsals were complete, the state delegates could compete in a plethora of optional competitions such as Model, Talent, Speech, Actress, Fashion, Photogenic, and Cover Girl.

Party Time

After a full day of rehearsals and competitions, it was time to relax, get comfortable, and enjoy the evening’s Gift Exchange and Pajama Party. It was the perfect chance for the nationwide contestants to visit, learn more about each other’s personalities, hometowns and states all the while reveling in the comfort of pajamas, onesies, or character designed attire while watching the Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus, on the big screen.
